IGNITE Recap: When Two Catalogs Went Head to Head
On August 28th, the Modus AV Listening Lounge turned into a battleground. Not the kind with raised voices and closed fists, but the kind built on needle drops, deep cuts, and two teams determined to prove their case. IGNITE, our versus style tribute to the Drake and Kendrick beef of 2024, sold out in record time, and the room that showed up matched the energy.
Doors opened at 7:30, and by 8 PM sharp the first needle dropped. Ten categories. Two teams. Team captains leading the charge. Each round opened with a 30 second team intro, sharp and confident, followed by 60 seconds of real deliberation as teams huddled to pick the one song they believed made their case best. Once a pick landed with Jarad, it was locked. No second guessing, no swaps. Just conviction.
What made the night work wasn't a scoreboard. There wasn't one. No winner was crowned category by category, and that was the point. This wasn't a competition to settle. It was a conversation, played out through a system built to let every layer of these tracks breathe. The mixing choices, the mastering decisions, the intent behind every bar landed the way the artists meant for them to land. The room debated. The room argued. The room had a great time doing it.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out for this one. You filled the seats fast, brought real opinions to the table, and reminded us why we build these nights in the first place. Events like IGNITE only work because the community shows up ready to engage, and Friday night you did exactly that.
